LUBRICATION
SYMPTOM CONDITION TestInspection LOW OR NO OIL PRESSUREHIGH OIL CONSUMPTIONNORMAL USE1Check oil level and search for leakage on crankcase andor defective sealing portsaCrankcase is leaking due to damageRebuild engine with new crankcase and gasket partsUse high quality oil (refer to TECHNICAL DATA)bCrankcase is leaking due to loose screwsRetighten screws with recommended torquecSealing rings, O-rings andor gaskets are brittle andor hard or damagedReplace damaged partsdPiston rings worn out (blue coloured engine exhaust emission)Replace piston rings (refer to CYLINDER AND HEAD)ePiston rings are broken (low compression and blue coloured engine exhaust emissionReplace piston rings (refer to CYLINDER AND HEAD)fValve stem seal damaged andor sealing lip is hard andor brittleReplace all valve stem seals2Check oil filter for contaminationaOil filter cloggedReplace oil filter and oil at the same timeUse high quality oil (refer to TECHNICAL DATA)3Check oil pressure regulator valve (spring) functionaValve spring damaged (valve always open)Replace springbValve stays open in crankcase PTO due to contamination (metalic particles)Clean andor repair valve piston4Check oil drain plug on engine bottomaPlug is loosed andor gasket ring is missingRetighten the plug andor place gasket ring5Check oil strainer screw on engine bottomaScrew is loose andor gasket is damaged, brittle or hardRetighten screw andor replace gasket6Check weep hole if oil leaks (oil pressure switch area MAG side)aOil leaking from weep hole means damaged oil seal andor O-ring on water pump housingReplace both oil seals and O-rings (refer to COOLING SYSTEM and MAGNETO COVER)7Check oil pressure switch functionaOil pressure switch damagedReplace oil pressure switch
