Section 06 DRIVE TRAIN Subsection 03 (REAR AXLE)
Removal
NOTE: Bearings and seals must be replaced if removedPry out drive axle seals no24Be careful not to damage seal bore or eccentric axle housingUse punch and drive bearings cup outward from opposite end of housing
Installation
Place new bearings in freezer for 10 minutes before installationPress the new race into the eccentric axle housingTo ease the assembly, it is possible to heat the eccentric axle housing at 100C (212F), 30 minutes in oven
WARNING
Clean all grease, outside and inside, from eccentric housing before putting in ovenUsing bearing packer, pack the bearing with Bombardier Sea-Doo bearing grease (PN 293 550 010)Apply grease to the race in the eccentric axle housingInsert the bearing into the eccentric axle housingThe seal must press into dry boreUse brake cleaner to make sure the bore is free of grease where the seal goesCAUTION: If the seal is pressed into slippery bore, it will misalign or pop out when the vehicle will be running, which will lead to bearing failurePress the seal in placeProperly installed, it is flush with the edge of the eccentric axle housingApply grease on seal lips and fill the area between the bearing and the seal
