Section 06 DRIVE TRAIN Subsection 03 (REAR AXLE)
Lock the axle with the eccentric axle housing; insert the pin through the drilled hole on the sprocket hub and engage the pin in one of the drilled holes on the eccentric axle housingCAUTION: Holes may be filled with dirt if you are not working on new partsThis could damage the hole as the pin is not fully engaged into the eccentric axle housingMake sure it is fully engaged and securedTemporarily lock the eccentric axle housing in place by tightening both locking bolts on the swing armUse the torque wrench and the bearing preload adjustment tool (crow foot) (PN 529 035 729) to unscrew the adjusting nut counterclockwiseApply the set torque, 132 Nm (97 lbfft)CAUTION: Rear end of the vehicle will tend to lift from the table, pull down on the grab bar if necessaryLoosen back the nut by turning it clockwise about half turnRemove the pin and spin the axle few revolutions so everything comes loose againReinsert the pin in place to lock the axle againUnscrew adjusting nut counterclockwiseApply the final torque of 48 Nm (35 lbfft)To ensure bearings are well seated, remove pin and spin the axle few revolutionsReinstall pin and apply the final torque second timeTighten the locking bolt no21 to 14 Nm (10 lbfft) to lock the adjusting nut in placeInstall caliper and tighten bolts to 25 Nm (18 lbfft)Install rear wheel hub (refer to procedure mentioned above)
