STARTING SYSTEM
BATTERY TROUBLESHOOTING
SYMPTOM: DISCHARGED OR WEAK BATTERY CAUSE 1Battery posts andor cable terminal oxidized2Loose or bad connectionsREMEDY Clean and coat with dielectric greaseCheck wiring and connector cleanliness, damaged or short circuitReplaceLoad Test
This is the best test of battery condition under starting loadUse load testing device that has an adjustable loadApply load of times the ampere-hour rating of the batteryAt 14 seconds into the test, check battery voltage; if battery is in good condition, it will have at least 10.5 Vdc
REMOVAL
Disconnect BLACK (-) cable first then positive cable

Always respect this order for disassembly; disconnect BLACK (-) cable firstElectrolyte or fuel vapors can be present in engine compartment and spark may ignite them and possibly cause personal injuriesRemove bolts retaining battery holder from rack
