Section 09 BRAKES Subsection 02 (HYDRAULIC BRAKES)
GENERAL
Hydraulic Brakes System
The brake system consists of two separate circuitsEach system has its own master cylinder and reservoirBoth front and rear brakes are disc type
Brake Fluid Draining Remove reservoir cover no1 with diaphragm no2Connect bleed hose to bleed valve no3Loosen bleed valve and pump brake lever no4 or brake pedal no5 until no more fluid flows out of bleed valveBrake Fluid Filling and Bleeding Close bleed valveFill reservoir with DOT brake fluidCAUTION: Do not mix different types of brake fluidUse only DOT brake fluidInstall commercial available brake bleeder to brake valveSee the manufacturer's operating instructionsPump brake bleeder and loosen bleed valveClose bleed valve and refill reservoir when the fluid level is lowNOTE: Check fluid level often to prevent air from being pumped into the systemRepeat the procedures until air bubbles don't appear in bleed hoseNOTE: For the front brake system, switch to LH and RH caliperTurn handle bar to full RH side when bleeding right caliper no6 and turn to the LH side for the left caliper no7This helps the bleeder to reach air into the caliperClose bleed valve and operate brake lever no4 or brake pedal no5If it still feels spongy, bleed system againFill reservoir to the upper level with DOT brake fluidInstall diaphragm and cover on reservoirIf brake bleeder is not available, use the following procedureInstall tube to bleed valveOpen bleederFill reservoir and pump lever until fluid freely flows out of the tubeClose bleed valvePump up system pressure with brake lever or brake pedal until lever or pedal resistance is feltSqueeze brake lever or depress brake pedal, open bleed valve and then close it
