Section 06 DRIVE TRAIN Subsection 02 (FRONT DIFFERENTIAL)
FRONT DRIVE SHAFT
Removal
Raise the front of vehicle, support it securely on jack stands and remove front wheel(s)Remove wheel cap no13, cotter pin no12, castellated nut no11, flat washer no10 and O-ring no21
Separate knuckle no8, with hub and disk brake no9, from lower and upper suspension armsSeparate knuckle from the drive shaft no7 or no14Pull drive shaft out of differential no1NOTE: Pull drive shaft strongly
Inspection
Inspect the condition of bootsIf there is any damage or evidence of leaking lubricant, replace themRefer to Drive Shaft Boot section
Installation
Apply grease (PN 293 550 019) to the splines and insert the end of drive shaft in differential and pull joint little to make sure that the stop ring is locked in differential side gear groove
