1Remove the steering rack assembly (see Steering Assembly in this section)2Support the steering rack assembly in suitable holding fixture or bench vise; then cut the securing band and slide the boot toward the outer tie rod end3Using punch or chisel, bend the lock washer away from the flats on the tie rod jointPR784
4While holding the rack shaft with wrench, torque the tie rod joint to 37 ft-lb using an appropriate crow-foot
