Separating Crankcase Halves 1Remove the left-side cap screws securing the crankcase halvesNote the location of the different-lengthed cap screws2Remove the right-side cap screws securing the crankcase halvesNote the location of the different-lengthed cap screwsCF261

CAUTION
Make sure the splines extend beyond the drive face or false torque reading and spline damage may occur
3Using the Crankcase SeparatorCrankshaft Remover and tapping lightly with rubber mallet, separate the crankcase halvesAccount for four alignment pinsNOTE: To keep the shaftgear assemblies intact for identification, tap the shafts toward the right-side crankcase half when separating the halves
NOTE: At this point, the cap screw can be removed from the driven pulley face
18Rotate the V-belt and driven pulleyclutch until the V-belt is flush with the top of the driven pulley19Place the V-belt cover gasket into position; then install the cover and secure with the cap screws making sure the different-lengthed cap screws are in their proper locationTighten the cap screws to ft-lb
