ValveTappet Clearance To check and adjust valvetappet clearance, use the following procedureNOTE: The seat, left-side and right-side engine covers, and gas tank must be removed for this procedure
1Remove the timing inspection plug and spark plug; then remove the tappet covers (for more detailed information, see EngineTransmissionServicing Top-Side Components)
CAUTION
Failure to properly seat and align the filter element may cause severe engine damage
8Install the air filter housing cover and secure with the locking tabs
2Rotate the crankshaft to the TDC position on the compression strokeNOTE: At this point, the rocker arms and adjuster screws must not have pressure on themKC123
