2Remove the cotter pin from the axleNOTE: During assembly, new cotter pins should be installed
5Using new gasket, install the assembled rear drive input shafthousing onto the rear drive gear case and secure with the three cap screwsTighten to 23 ft-lb

INSTALLING 1Slide the gear casedifferential into position down through the upper-left side of the frame; then align the driveline splines to the differential input coupler and engage the driveshaft and differential2Pack the driveline boot with the appropriate grease; then secure with the boot clamps using CV Boot Clamp Tool3Secure the differential to the frame with two through-bolts and secure with lock nuts and flat washersTighten to 38 ft-lb4Install the rear drive axles (see Drive Axles in this section)5Install the brake caliper and tighten the mounting cap screws to 20 ft-lb; then adjust the parking brake (see Parking Brake in Section 2)6Fill the differential (XTX) or gear case (XTXTZ) with the appropriate lubricant
