1Attach the Timing Light to the spark plug high tension lead; then remove the timing inspection plug from the left-side crankcase cover2Start the engine and using the RPM function on the speedometertachometer, run at 1500 RPM; ignition timing should be 10 BTDC3Install the timing inspection plugIf ignition timing cannot be verified, the rotor may be damaged, the key may be sheared, the trigger coil bracket may be bent or damaged, or the CDI unitECU may be faulty ECU Error Codes
If sensor fails or an out-of-tolerance signal is sensed by the ECU, an error code will be generated by the ECUThis will result in the analog needle swinging full scaleThe EFI icon will flashTo read the error code(s), use the following procedure1Make sure the ignition switch is in the OFF position; then remove the seats2Locate the diagnostic plug next to the PDM; then remove the black rubber cap3Connect the Test Plug from Test PlugError Code List to the diagnostic plug
