1On the XTX, remove the left seat and seat base and tilt the cargo box backOn the XTZ, remove both seats and center console remove the oil hose from the fitting nearest the oil filter base REMOVINGDISASSEMBLING 1Remove the oil pump from the engine (see Right-Side Components in Section 3)2Remove the Phillips-head screw on the back side of the pump and separate the pump housing and coverNote the position of the inner and outer rotors and alignment pin for assembly3Remove oil pump componentsCLEANING AND INSPECTING
NOTE: Whenever part is worn excessively, cracked, or damaged in any way, replacement is necessary
1Clean all oil-pump componentsPR265C
2Inspect the rotors for scoring and gouges3Inspect the alignment pin, driveshaft, and driven sprocket for damage4Inspect the pump housing and cover for cracks or damageASSEMBLINGINSTALLING 1Place the rotors into the pump housing making sure the alignment pin is in the groove of the rotor2Place the cover onto the pump housing
