9Lift and slide the tank forward raising the front of the tank first; then turn the tank and lift out the right sideCLEANING AND INSPECTING NOTE: Whenever part is worn excessively, cracked, or damaged in any way, replacement is necessary
1Clean all gas tank components with parts-cleaning solvent2Inspect all hoses for cracks or leaks3Inspect gas tank cap and tank for leaks, holes, and damaged threads4Inspect the fuel level sensor for proper operation (see Fuel Level Sensor in this section)INSTALLING
3Install the rear hold-down strap joining cap screw and nutDo not tighten at this time

Whenever any maintenance or inspection is made on the fuel system during which there may be fuel leakage, there should be no welding, smoking, open flames, etc in the area
