Measuring Connecting Rod (Small End Deflection) 1Place the crankshaft on set of blocks and mount dial indicator and base on the surface platePosition the indicator contact point against the center of the connecting rod small end journal2Zero the indicator and push the small end of the connecting rod away from the dial indicator3Maximum deflection must not exceed specificationsMeasuring Connecting Rod (Big End Side-to-Side) 1Push the lower end of the connecting rod to one side of the crankshaft journal2Using feeler gauge, measure the gap between the connecting rod and crankshaft journal3Acceptable gap range must be within specificationsMeasuring Crankshaft (Runout) 1Place the crankshaft on set of blocks2Mount dial indicator and base on the surface platePosition the indicator contact at point of the crankshaftGZ281A GZ492
2Acceptable width range must be within specificationsCOUNTERSHAFT

CAUTION
When disassembling the countershaft, care must be taken to note the direction each major component (dog, gear) facesIf major component is installed facing the wrong direction, transmission damage may occur andor the transmission will malfunctionIn either case, complete disassembly and assembly will be required
