1Place the camshaft on set of blocks; then position the dial indicator contact point against the shaft and zero the indicator CC005D
2Place strip of plasti-gauge in each of the camshaft lands in the cylinder headCC283D
2Rotate the camshaft and note runout; maximum tolerance must not exceed specificationsMeasuring Camshaft Lobe Height 1Using calipers, measure each cam lobe height
3Place the valve cover on the cylinder head and secure with the valve cover cap screwsTighten securelyNOTE: Do not rotate the camshaft when measuring clearance
4Remove the cap screws securing the valve cover to the cylinder; then remove the valve cover and camshaft5Match the width of the plasti-gauge with the chart found on the plasti-gauge packaging to determine camshaft to cylinder head and valve cover clearance
