Installing Valves 1Apply grease to the inside surface of the valve seals; then place lower spring seat and valve guide seal over each valve guide CC131D

3Push the valve from side to side; then from top to bottom4Maximum "wobble" deflection must not exceed specificationsMeasuring Valve Guide (Inside Diameter) 1Insert snap gauge 12 way down into each valve guide bore; then remove the gauge and measure it with micrometer2Acceptable inside diameter range must be within specifications3If valve guide is out of tolerance, it must be replacedServicing ValvesValve GuidesValve Seats If valves, valve guides, or valve seats require servicing or replacement, Arctic Cat recommends that the components be taken to qualified machine shop for servicing2Insert each valve into its original location3Install the valve springs with the painted end of the spring facing away from the cylinder headNOTE: If the paint is not visible, install the ends of the springs with the closest wound coils toward the headCC144D

CAUTION
If valves are discolored or pitted or if the seating surface is worn, the valve must be replacedDo not attempt to grind the valves or severe engine damage may occurATV-1011A
