12Remove the two cap screws securing the oil strainer; then remove the strainer CC675
7Note the timing marks on the crank balancer gear (B) and crankshaft gear (C) for assembling purposes; then slide the crank balancer gear off the crank balancerAccount for the key in the keyway
CAUTION
Unless the secondary drive gear, bevel gear, or bearings require service, do not remove the secondary drive assembly from the caseIf removed, bevel gear backlash will have to be adjusted requiring re-shimming of the drive bevel gear shaft
13To remove the secondary drivebevel gear, remove the secondary drive bearing housing; then remove the nut securing the drivebevel gear shaft in the bearing and using plastic mallet, drive the shaft out of the bearingAccount for shimshimsNOTE: Shims should be measured and kept for starting point in adjusting backlash
8Remove the crank balancerNOTE: There is flat spot on the crank balancer bearing flange to allow clearance past the crankshaft
