Measuring Valve GuideValve Stem Deflection (Wobble Method) 1Mount dial indicator and base on the surface plate; then place the cylinder head on the surface plate2Install the valve into the cylinder head; then position the dial indicator contact point against the outside edge of the valve faceZero the indicator Measuring Rocker Arm Shaft (Outside Diameter) 1Using micrometer, measure the outside diameter of the rocker arm shaft2Acceptable outside diameter must be at or above specificationInstalling Valves 1Apply grease to the inside surface of the valve seals; then place lower spring seat and valve guide seal over each valve guide
3Push the valve from side to side; then from top to bottom4Maximum "wobble" deflection must not exceed specificationsMeasuring Valve Guide (Inside Diameter) 1Insert snap gauge 12 way down into each valve guide bore; then remove the gauge and measure it with micrometer2Acceptable inside diameter range must be within specifications3If valve guide is out of tolerance, it must be replacedServicing ValvesValve GuidesValve Seats If valves, valve guides, or valve seats require servicing or replacement, Arctic Cat recommends that the components be taken to qualified machine shop for servicingCC144D
