5If adjustment is correct, tighten the adjuster nut securelyOn the XTZ if further adjustment is required, repeat steps 2-4On the XTXTX, proceed to step 66Release parking brake lever to fully-off position; then loosen the nut (B) and turn nut (A) clockwise several turns PR377B

Parking Brake
CHECKING Although the parking brake has been adjusted at the factory, the brake should be checked for proper operationThe brake must be maintained to be fully functional1With the engine off, transmission in neutral, and the parking brake set, attempt to move the vehicle2If the rear wheels are locked, it is adjusted properly3If the rear wheels are not locked, it must be adjusted (set up)ADJUSTING 1Remove the seats and center console2With the parking brake lever released, loosen the adjuster nut (A); then turn the jam nut (B) clockwise several turns

7Check for proper adjustment by applying the parking brake and attempting to move the vehicleThe vehicle should not move8If adjustment is correct, tighten the nut (B) securelyNOTE: If the parking brake cannot be "set-up" sufficiently to hold the rear axle, new brake pads must be installed (proceed to Replacing Brake Pads in this sub-section)
