17Install the bearing inserts to be used for assembly in the connecting rods; then secure the connecting rod in suitable holding fixture 20Measure the inside diameter of the connecting rod piston pin bushingIt must be within specifications
CAUTION
If vise is used to secure the connecting rod it must have brass, copper, or hardwood jaws to prevent damage to the connecting rodNever use bench vise without jaw protection or severe damage to the connecting rod and engine will occur
NOTE: If the piston pin bushing is replaced, the lubrication hole must be aligned and the bushing sizedIt is recommended that only qualified machine shop replace bushings
