BULB VERIFICATION NOTE: Perform this test on the taillight-brakelight side of the connectorAlso, 12-volt external power supply (jumper) will be needed
Ignition Timing
The ignition timing cannot be adjusted; however, verifying ignition timing can aid in troubleshooting other componentsTo verify engine timing, see Section 2
1Connect the power supply (positive) to the middle terminal; then connect the power supply (negative) to the bottom terminal2The taillight should illuminate3With the negative power supply still connected, connect the positive supply wire to the top terminal4The brakelight should illuminateNOTE: If either the taillight or brakelight fails to illuminate, inspect the bulb, the connectors, or the component wiring harness
ECU Error Codes
If sensor fails or an out-of-tolerance signal is sensed by the ECU, an error code will be generated by the ECUThis will result in the analog needle swinging full scaleThe EFI icon will flashTo read the error code(s), use the following procedure1Make sure the ignition switch is in the OFF position; then remove the seat2Locate the diagnostic plug next to the PDM; then remove the black rubber cap3Connect the Diagnostic Harness to the diagnostic plug
