3Depress the starter button while observing the multimeterThe multimeter should drop to volts and "click" should be heard from the relayNOTE: If "click" is heard and any voltage is indicated by the multimeter, replace the starter relayIf no "click" is heard and the multimeter continues to indicate battery voltage, proceed to step 4 4Disconnect the two-wire plug from the starter relay; then connect the red tester lead to the green wire and the black tester lead to the black wireAR607D

NOTE: If the meter showed correct voltage but the starter did not operate or operated slowly, the starter motor is defectiveNOTE: If the meter showed no voltage, inspect the main fuse, ground connections, starter motor lead, battery voltage (at the battery), starter relay, or the neutral start relay
REMOVING

5Depress the starter button and observe the multimeterNOTE: If battery voltage is indicated, replace the starter relayIf no voltage is indicated, proceed to Neutral Start Relay check
