NOTE: If the meter shows battery voltage, the main wiring harness is good; proceed to test the switchcomponent, the connector, and the switch wiring harness for resistance NOTE: Neither the sensor nor the thermometer should be allowed to touch the bottom of the container or inaccurate readings will occurUse wire holders to suspend the sensor and thermometer
RESISTANCE (Switch Connector)

! WARNING
Wear insulated gloves and safety glassesHeated oil can cause severe burns
! CAUTION
Always disconnect the battery when performing resistance tests to avoid damaging the multimeter
NOTE: The brake lever must be compressed for this testAlso, the ignition switch must be in the OFF position
3On the ECT sensor when the temperature reaches 40 (104 F), the meter should read approximately 1136 ohms4On the ECT sensor when the temperature reaches 100 (212 F), the meter should read approximately 155 ohms5If the readings are not as indicated, the sensor must be replaced6Install the sensor and tighten securely7Connect the leads
