RESISTANCE (Starter Button) 1Set the meter selector to the OHMS position2Connect the red tester lead to the blackwhite wire; then connect the black tester lead to the yellowred wire3With the starter button depressed, the meter must show less than ohm4With the starter button released, the meter must show an open circuitNOTE: If the meter does not show as specified, replace the switchcomponent or connector 3With the engine running at constant 5000 RPM (with the headlights on), the meter must show 14-15.5 DC volts
! CAUTION
Do not run the engine at high RPM for more than 10 seconds
NOTE: If voltage is lower than specified, test stator coilno load
VOLTAGE (Stator CoilNo Load) The connector is the black and white one on the right side of the engine just above the brake cable adjusterNOTE: Test the connector that comes from the engine
