CDI Unit (Carbureted Models)
The CDI is located beneath the seat near the batteryWNOTE: The CDI unit is not serviceable componentIf the unit is defective, it must be replaced
HNOTE: If voltage rises above 15.5 DC volts, the regulator is faulty or battery connection is loose or corrodedClean and tighten battery connections or replace the regulatorlrectifierIf voltage does not rise, check Voltage (Charging CoilNo Load) in this sectionIf charging coil voltage is normal, replace the regulatorlrectifier
The CDI is rarely the cause for electrical problems; however, if the CDI is suspected, substitute another CDI unit to veri the suspected one is defectiveWNOTE: Prior to replacing the CDI unit to assure the CDI unit is defective, it is advisable to perform CDI peak voltage test (see Ignition Coils in this section) andlor perform continuity test of the wiring harness from the CDI connector to the CDI unit
Neutral Start Front Drive Actuator Start-in=Gear Differential Lock 2WD Relays
The relays are identical plug-in type located on the power distribution moduleRelay hnction can be checked by switching relay positionsThe relays are interchangeableWNOTE: The module and wiring harness are not serviceable component and must be replaced as an assembly
