2On the 400IH1 models, connect the black tester lead to either primary connector; on the 5001700 EFI, connect the black tester lead to the coil frame or to the primary connector PEAK VOLTAGE (5001700 EFIIH1 Models)
INOTE: All of the peak voltage tests should be made using the Fluke Model 73 Multimeter with Peak Voltage Reading AdapterIf any other type of tester is used, readings may vary due to internal circuitryINOTE: The battery must be at full charge for these tests
3The meter reading must be within specificationINOTE: If the meter does not show as specified, replace ignition coil
Spark Plug Cap
1Connect the red tester lead to one end of the cap; then connect the black tester lead to the other end of the cap
PrimaryICDI (5001650 ECU (EFI Models)
INOTE: The CDIIECU is located beneath the seat near the battery
1Set the meter selector to the DC Voltage position; then disconnect the bluelwhite primary wire from the coil2Connect the red tester lead to the primary wire; then connect the black tester lead to ground3Crank the engine over using the electric starter
