FWhile holding the adusterdial at the proper clearance setting, tighten the Jam nut securely with the valve aduster handle; then tighten to ft-lb 3 1Place the two tappet covers into position making sure the proper cap screws are with the proper coverTighten the cap screws securely
29In crisscross pattern starting from the center and working outward, tighten the cap screws (from step 28) to ft-lb
30AdJust valveltappet clearance using the following procedureUNOTE: Use Valve Clearance Adjuster for this procedure
ATurn the engine over until the piston reaches top dead ceGer on the compressi6n strokePlace the valve aduster onto the Jam nut securing the tappet adusterscrew; then rotate the valve adusterdial clockwise until the end is seated in the tappet aduster screw
32If removed, install the spark plug and tighten to 12 ft-lb
