A CAUTION
Incorrect installation of the piston rings will result in engine damage
1Install the piston on the connecting rod making sure there is circliu on each side and the open end of the circlip directed upwards or downwardsINOTE: The piston should be installed so the arrow points toward the exhaust
INOTE: If the piston rings were removed, install them in this sequence
AInstall ring expander (4) in the bottom groove of the piston; then install the thin oil rings (3) over the expander making sure the expander ends do not overlapStagger the end gaps of the upper and lower thin oil rings according to the illustrationINOTE: Note the direction of the exhaust side of the piston (5) for correct ring end gap orientationFront
