2Connect the red tester lead to the whiteblue (87) wire and momentarily turn the ignition switch to the ON positionThe meter should read battery voltage for up to 30 seconds; then drop to zero3Connect the red tester lead to the yelloworange (L) wire and turn the ignition switch to the ON positionThe meter should read battery voltage and the green glow plug indicator should illuminate for up to 30 seconds4Turn the ignition switch off5Turn the ignition switch to the ON positionObserve the glow plug indicator while momentarily "bumping" the starter buttonThe glow plug indicator should immediately extinguish6If steps 2, 3, or are not as specified, replace the glow plug controllerrelay7If the glow plugs remain on for more than 35 seconds, test the ECT switchthermistor (thermistor side only)NOTE: To test the glow plugs, use the following procedure VOLTAGE (Main Harness Connector to Fan Motor) 1Set the meter selector to the DC Voltage position2Connect the red tester lead to the blackred wire; then connect the black tester lead to ground3The meter must show battery voltageNOTE: If the meter shows no battery voltage, troubleshoot the battery, fuse, motor, or the main wiring harnessNOTE: If the meter shows battery voltage, the main wiring harness is goodThe connector should be checked for resistance
