Measuring Connecting Rod (Big End Width)
1Using call ers, measure the width of the connecting ro rat the big-end bearing
2Acceptable width range must be within specificationsMeasuring Crankshaft (Runout)
1Place the crankshaft on set of blocks2Mount dial indicator and base on the surface platePosition the indicator contact at point of the crankshaft2Acceptable width range must be within specificationsCOUNTERSHAFT
A CAUTION
When disassembling the countershaft, care must be taken to note the direction each major component (dog, gear) facesIf major component is installed facing the wrong direction, transmission damage may occur andor the transmission will malfunctionIn either case, complete disassembly and assembly will be required
Disassembling
3Zero the indicator and rotate the crankshaft slowly
