10Secure the positive cable to the starter with the nut and tighten to specification (see Section 10)11Connect the battery making sure to connect the positive cable firstTESTING VOLTAGE
2Set the meter selector to DC Voltage position; then connect the red tester lead to the battery side of the starter relay and the black tester lead to the starter cable side of the starter relay3The meter must show battery voltageNOTE: If the meter showed no battery voltage, check the battery for charge or battery to solenoid connections
Perform this test on the starter motor positive terminalNOTE: The ignition switch must be in the ON position, the emergency stop switch in the RUN position, the transmission in the neutral position, and the clutch lever compressed
4Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, compress the clutch lever, and depress the starter button5The meter must show DC volts and the starter motor should runNOTE: If the meter shows voltage, replace the starter relayIf the meter shows battery voltage, continue with step 6
