2Remove the negative cable from the battery; then remove the positive cableRemove the battery hold-down strap and the battery vent hose; then remove the battery 8Remove the gas tank9Remove the rear fenders and the rear rack assembly (see Section 8)
10Remove the hardware securing the air cleaner housing to the frameBattery acid is harmful if it contacts eyes, skin, or clothingCare must be taken whenever handling battery
3Near the battery tray, remove the two screws securing the fuse block; then carefully remove all the wiring from the block
It is critical that all wiring be marked when removing from the fuse blockThis will aid in installing correctly
4Carefully guide the battery cables and fuse block wiring down through the access hole into the engine compartment for future removing
